Football Weekend Review

Hello, sorry I haven't posted a preview of last week or a preview of this week. But the games this week have already finished so I will give you a review.

There was a very entertaining match at St. James' Park on Saturday where Steve Bruce's Hull defeated Newcastle 2-3. Though it was the magpies who took the lead. Loïc Remy headed his first Newcastle goal after Papiss Cisse's attempted shot ended up with him. But the lead just lasted for 16 minutes, because after a wonderful opportunity was missed by Danny Graham Newcastle didn't clear their lines well and when the ball was recycled it ended with Robbie Brady who cooly slotted the ball past Krul. But on the stroke of half time Yohan Cabaye's shot was blocked and sent to Remy again took it first time and slotted it into the bottom right corner. But right after the restart Hull were handed a free-kick, Robbie Brady stepped up and swung in a wonderful ball right to Ahmed El Mohamady who jumped up and headed the ball into the net. But after that goal Newcastle had no responses. Substitute George Boyd ran down the left flank and played a brilliant ball to the edge of the box where Sone Aluko with a wonderful volley to ensure Hull the win.

Another great game on Saturday at 10 where Everton defeated West Ham at Upton Park 2-3. But it was West Ham who took the lead. Matt Jarvis did well to cut into the box and he set up Ravel Morrison who's shot deflected off Bryan Oviedo and Tim Howard and Tim Howard had no chance and was wrong footed. Though Everton responded on the hour mark through Leighton Baines. He curled in a wonderful free kick into the top left corner. But with just 15 minutes left of the game new signing, James McCarthy fouled Kevin Nolan in the box Mark Noble stepped up and converted his spot kick. But then later on the eighty minute mark Everton were handed another free kick. Again Leighton Baines stepped up and this time went to the opposite direction shoot ting the ball into the top right corner. The ball ricocheted off the post and went to the other side. Then, just three minutes later new signing Romelu Lukaku headed in to give Everton the win. Unfortunately, for Everton Lukaku was involved in a clash of heads while heading the ball. Though, fortunately for Everton it is not a very bad injury and he will probably be available for their next match.

There was one game at 12:30 on Sunday morning which was Chelsea vs Fullham. Chelsea came into this one after back to back defeats to Everton and then Basel. They were looking to end that run. It looked to get a whole lot worse for Chelsea when Pajtim Kasami played a wonderful ball to Darren Bent who had just returned after two weeks witha hamstring injury. The miss proved to be costly because just six minutes after the restart Chelsea took the lead. First Shürrle then Eto'o and then finally Osacar who simply finished from close range. David Stockdale will feel he should have done better. Then, on 83 minutes Oscar's corner was met by John Terry's header which found John Obi Mikel who finished really well. This was Mikel first Premier League goal for Chelsea in seven years!

There were two games on Sunday at 8:30. The first one I'm going to write about is Arsenal vs Stoke. Arsenal were coming into this won without losing a game since opening day against Aston Villa. And they took the lead on four minutes after Mesut Özil's free kick was parried into Aaron Ramsey's path and Ramsey finished easily. But 20 minutes later Geff Cameron equalized for Stoke after Marko Arnautovic's shot hit the post Geff Cameron simply followed it up with an easy shot. But Stoke weren't level for long. Just ten minutes later, Özil's corner found Mertesacker who headed in. Then, with twenty minutes left Özil again swung in a wonderful ball right to Bacary Sagna who simply headed in. Özil playing a part in all three goals and had a wonderful home debut.

No doubt about the shock of the weekend though where City took the bragging rights after a 4-1 defeat at the Etihad. City opened the scoring after Samir Nasri released Alexander Kolarov who swung in a great ball to Sergio Aguero who completed a wonderful volley. Then on the stroke of half-time after a great ball was played in to te box Yaya Toure just had to knee the ball in. Then just two minutes after the restart Sergio Aguero was played through and he cooly slotted past David de Gea. Finally just three minutes later when Jesus Navas was released he played a brilliant cross to the back post which was met by Samir Nasri to make it 4-0. The match was surely over. There was a brilliant free-kick by Rooney with three minutes to spare but it was barely a constellation. Moyes has some work and Pellegrini's first derby goes down as a success.

Thank you for reading my review and I will be back later with some more reviews. Thank you.
